Christophe BOSSON

Based in the town of Aire-la-Ville, Christophe Bosson welcomes you to his wine cellar on Thursdays and Fridays from 5.30 pm to 7.00 pm, or by appointment. As well as his warm welcome, you’ll discover wines from the Cave de Genève, as well as a selection of local produce, such as his GRTA durum wheat dry pasta.

Christophe Bosson cultivates his 12 hectares of vineyards – situated mainly on the Bardonnex hillside – in a thoughtful and considered manner. Chardonnay, Viognier, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc: no fewer than 14 grape varieties are used to produce the wines of the Cave de Genève. This impressive diversity requires a demanding and passionate approach to viticulture. Pruning, leaf removal and debudding vary according to the specific characteristics of each grape variety.

An empirical approach to his profession

Often a pioneer in his field, Christophe has an inexhaustible wellspring of ideas. In his view, one should not be resistant to technology. On the contrary, when properly understood, it opens up a world of possibilities, enables greater precision and allows for better, less interventionist practices. Christophe Bosson adopts an experimental approach, based on observation, which he applies to his work as a winegrower and farmer. Indeed, out of respect for nature and its resources, he practises ‘no-till’ farming on his 55 hectares of cereal and market garden crops.

‘We must seize the opportunity to pursue our passions when they come our way.’

Christophe had long harboured a dream of making his own wine. Today, that dream has come true: on one and a half hectares, he produces his own vintages, which bring him “great joy”. These are wines that reflect his character: distinctive, pleasant and generous. This new role demands rigour, attention to detail and organisation. It’s a wonderful learning experience for this ‘Air’ sign, who readily describes himself as rather disorganised. Indeed, there is little room for improvisation in this art. This new expertise has given him a fresh perspective, as well as new, emotionally rich exchanges.

“It is not so much the wine that is exceptional, but the bond it is able to forge between people.”

Food lovers, it is over a beautifully laid table and with a wine pairing carefully chosen for his guests that you will get to know Christophe best. For him, human connections are key; he lets his encounters guide him; wine is a remarkable product, provided it is shared.

Pinot Noir, Clémence: ‘A team effort’

When Christophe talks about the winery, he recalls a 25-year-old man full of ideals. Back then, he wanted to see a beautiful, functional winery take shape, producing fine wines. Today, he looks back on its development with great satisfaction. In fact, his favourite wine from our range is, without a doubt, the Pinot Noir Clémence. This wine symbolises both meticulous care in the vineyard and the oenologists’ skilful and passionate approach to a grape variety that is rather challenging to work with. Quite simply, a fine team achievement.

“Nothing is calculated, on the contrary, it is experienced to the full.”

Always eager to learn, Christophe strives to tackle realistic challenges relating to the factors he can control. He forges his own path off the beaten track, seeking meaning and remaining open to the world around him. He loves his profession, yet constantly questions and challenges it. Hard work, experience and humility do the rest.
